Legal notices & warnings

Please read these notices before using DocExtract. They explain what the service does, what it does not do, and what you should keep in mind when using extracted output.

What DocExtract does

DocExtract converts PDFs and images into structured Markdown and Excel files using automated OCR and AI-based text and table extraction. The service is provided to help you turn documents into editable formats quickly.

We don't store your files

DocExtract does not store your uploaded files or the extracted output. Files are processed transiently for the sole purpose of running the extraction and are not retained on our servers, not saved to any database, and not used to train AI models.

Downloads happen directly in your browser. Once you close or refresh the tab, nothing about your document remains on our side.

Accuracy and no warranty

Extraction output is generated by automated OCR and AI models and may contain errors, omissions, mis-aligned tables, fabricated values, or incorrect numbers. You must review every extracted document carefully before relying on it.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Not professional advice

Extracted output must not be used as a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial, accounting, or tax advice. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions that depend on the accuracy of a document.

High-risk use

Do not use DocExtract for decisions where errors could cause harm — such as medical treatment, safety-critical operations, or regulated filings — without independent human verification of every value.

Third-party AI providers

To perform extraction, your file is sent to a third-party AI provider for the duration of the extraction call. We do not retain it afterwards, but the provider's own processing terms apply during that call. Do not upload content you would not be comfortable sending through such a service.

Confidential and sensitive documents

Even though we do not store files, please avoid uploading secrets, credentials, health records, government identifiers, or other restricted data unless you have verified that doing so is appropriate for your situation and complies with your obligations.

Acceptable use

You agree to upload only content you have the right to process. Do not use DocExtract for illegal content, or to process personal data of other people without a lawful basis under applicable laws (including the GDPR, Quebec's Law 25, and PIPEDA).

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to the documents you upload and to the extracted output. DocExtract does not claim ownership of your input or your results.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DocExtract and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service or reliance on its output.

Changes to these notices

We may update these notices from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent change was made. Continued use of DocExtract after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated notices.
